Investment Team

Upon co-founding Alto Partners in 2000, Stefano Scarpis has since served as Chairman and Partner. Prior to founding Alto Partners, from 1996 to 2000 he held the position of General Manager of Fidia SGR, a private equity fund manager supported by four premier Italian banks (Mediobanca, Banca Commerciale Italiana, Credito Italiano and Banca di Roma). From 1986 to 1995, Stefano Scarpis served as a Senior Manager in the corporate finance division of the leading Italian investment bank Mediobanca, assisting a number of foremost clients such as Montedison, Pirelli, Italcementi, Assicurazioni Generali and SAI Assicurazioni in their corporate finance operations.
Stefano Scarpis graduated from Siena University in Economics and Banking, with a Master of Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan.
In addition to supervising Alto Partners’ activities, he specializes in deal origination and negotiation, with a focus on the food, leisure and luxury sectors. Stefano Scarpis was member of AIFI’s board of directors from 2004 to 2009.

Since co-founding Alto Partners in 2000, Raffaele de Courten has served as Partner. Prior to founding Alto Partners, he was employed from 1998 to 2000 at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg as counsel of the Italian Executive Vice President. From 1987 to 1998, Raffaele de Courten was appointed a Senior Manager of the corporate finance division at Mediobanca, assisting a number of such prestigious clients as Enel, Ferrovie dello Stato, Assicurazioni Generali, Italcementi, the EIB and the World Bank in their debt capital markets and structured products operations. Raffaele de Courten graduated in Business Administration from LUISS University in Rome.
In addition to supervising Alto Partners’ activities, he focuses on deal origination, debt structuring, fundraising and investors relations. Raffaele de Courten was member of AIFI’s board of directors from 2010 to 2015 and Chairman of its mid-market Commission from 2013 to 2015. He was a member of AIFI’s General private equity Board and Guarantee Committee.

Before joining Alto Partners in September 2023 as Board Member and Partner, Gianmarco Gandolfi was Co-founder and Senior Partner of the Equity Club from 2018 to 2023, a club deal sponsored by Mediobanca and its management team with raised capital of €500m. In this role he managed investments in 9 portfolio companies and 17 add-ons. Beforehand, he worked with the Percassi Group as Group CFO from 2009 to 2012 and Managing Director & Executive President of the US activities from 2013 to 2017.
His previous professional experience includes 4 years with Banca Leonardo in the investment banking division as a Managing Director and 4 years with Lazard & Co as a VP of M&A, following foremost clients such as Exor, Generali, Pirelli, Prada, Telecom, ENEL, ENI, Edison e Banca Intesa. At Alto Partners, Gianmarco Gandolfi focuses on deal origination, negotiation, portfolio monitoring and development.
Gianmarco Gandolfi graduated in Business and Economics with Bocconi University in Milan and attended an advanced management program in Columbia University in New York.

Filippo Sabbion joined Alto Partners in February 2024 as Associate Partner. He oversees the origination and execution of investment opportunities and the management and monitoring of portfolio companies.
Prior to this, he gained thirteen years’ experience in international (Bregal, Alpha) and national (TEC/Mediobanca, Gradiente SGR) private equity funds, following 9 platform investments and 2 addons for an invested value of c. €1 billion in the industrial, technology, business services and consumer goods sectors.
Besides his experience in the private equity space, Filippo Sabbion was a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Filippo Sabbion graduated with honors in Economics and Finance from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and holds an MBA from INSEAD.

In Alto Partners since April 2025, Antonio Zaccheo is an Associate Partner and he oversees the origination and execution of investment opportunities together with the management, monitoring and valorization of portfolio companies.
Antonio has more than 20 years of experience in Private Equity, M&A and consumer/luxury groups. Before joining Alto Partners, from 2021 to 2025, Antonio was co-founder and CEO of BIC Capital, a club deal promoted by former Permira partners. During his time at BIC Capital, Antonio has executed 4 investments and 3 portfolio add-ons. Previously, Antonio was CCO and Business Development manager at Cigierre, a leading company in the restaurant sector and part of the BC Partners portfolio. His previous professional experience includes 5 years at Essilor Luxottica in the United States, from 2014 to 2019, where he held various roles in both the prescription and sunglasses retail space. Most notably, he served as VP of Store Operations Sunglasshut North America. Before moving to the United States, Antonio worked for 7 years, from 2007 to 2014, as an investment professional at Permira, a pan-European private equity fund. During this period Antonio was mainly focused on the value creation of Valentino Fashion Group/Hugo Boss and supporting the international team in several other acquisitions and portfolio monitoring. Antonio began his career in investment banking, initially at Morgan Stanley and later at Lazard.
Antonio graduated in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan.

Since joining Alto Partners in 2018, Federico Zaffaroni has served as a Director responsible for deal origination, execution, monitoring and exit. Prior to joining Alto Partners, he was employed from 2015 to 2018 at Hedge Invest SGR, an alternative asset investment platform where he served as a member of the investment committee, and from 2007 to 2015 with Mandarin Capital Partners as a Senior Associate. Prior to that time, he worked together with Enrico Ricotta for two years at the private equity advisory firm R&D Advisory.
Federico Zaffaroni graduated in Economics and Finance from LIUC University in Castellanza where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Merchant Banking.

Marilù Bartolini has been Director of Investor Relations & ESG since September 2025. In this role, she is responsible for managing investor relations, fundraising, and integrating environmental, social, and governance principles into the strategy of the General Partner, the funds, and portfolio companies.
She has gained international experience across Italy, Switzerland, France, and the United Kingdom. Previously, at Mediobanca, she worked with UHNW clients, and at Pictet Alternative Advisors in Geneva, she was part of the team focused on research, due diligence, and hedge fund portfolio management.
She holds a Master in Management – Triple Degree Programme from ESCP Europe Business School, earning the Diplôme Grande École (France), the European MSc in Management (City University, London), and the Laurea Magistrale in Economics and Management (University of Turin).
She also holds the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.
Marilù is a member of the Italian Order of Journalists and the Italian Association of Financial Advisors. She has served on the Steering Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society in Geneva and is a participant in the ISPI Future Leaders Program 2025.

Ilenia Corbelli, who joined Alto Partners in 2012, specializes in financial analysis, portfolio monitoring and deal flow management. Prior to joining Alto Partners, she worked from 2007 to 2012 as a Senior Analyst with Cape Natixis SGR, an Italian private equity mid-market fund manager. Beforehand, she was employed for two years at Aletti Private Equity, the private equity arm of Banca Popolare di Verona.
Ilenia Corbelli holds a degree in Business Administration from LIUC University in Castellanza where she subsequently earned a Master’s Degree in Merchant Banking.

Alfonso Meccariello joined Alto Partners in September 2024 as a Senior Investment Manager. In his role, he is responsible for the execution of new investments as well as the management and monitoring of portfolio companies.
Before joining Alto Partners, Alfonso was Chief Investment Officer of Underscore District, a platform focused on acquiring and scaling emerging fashion brands and where he was instrumental in raising capital and completing a series of successful acquisitions. Prior to this, he gained over six years of experience in two international private equity funds (Investindustrial, Neurberger Berman) where he completed several acquisitions, refinancing and divestments across different industries.
Alfonso graduated with honors from Bocconi University, where he earned both a Bachelor and a Master in Finance.

Pietro Marchianò, who joined Alto Partners in 2019, is involved in investment execution, portfolio monitoring and investors reporting. Prior to joining Alto Partners, he was employed for two years in the Grant Thornton transactions services division in Milan.
Pietro Marchianò holds a degree in International Economics and Business from Bocconi University in Milan and a Master’s Degree in Management from IE Business School in Madrid.

Erika Ferazzini, in Alto Partners since 2024, is involved in investment execution, portfolio monitoring and investors reporting activities. Prior to joining Alto Partners, she worked for three years at NB Aurora, the private equity fund managed by Neuberger Berman focusing on healthcare and business services sectors.
Erika Ferazzini graduated with honors in Management and Business Administration from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and holds a Master of Science in Accounting, Financial Management and Control from Bocconi University.

In Alto Partners since 2025 Andrea Rossi is in charge of investment execution, portfolio monitoring and investor reporting activities. Before joining Alto Partners, he worked for three years at The Boston Consulting Group in Munich in the Private Equity and Principal Investor practice. Before, he gained experience in M&A (KPMG e LABS Corporate Finance) and in Private Debt (Anthilia).
Andrea Rossi holds a degree in Business Administration and Management and a Master’s degree in Finance from Bocconi University.
Senior Advisors

Nicola Volpi joined Alto Partners as Senior Advisor in April 2025, bringing over 30 years of experience in the Private Equity industry. He began his career in 1987 at Sanpaolo Finance, where he led the Leverage Finance division and managed some of the first LBO transactions in Italy.
He was a founding partner of Permira in Italy, where he served as Managing Director and as member of the Executive Committee, leading successful investments in companies such as Ferretti Yachts, Marazzi, Veneta Cucine and Sisal. He later founded BIC Capital, a club deal platform for private investments, and became a shareholder and board member of the high-performance car manufacturer Pagani.
Nicola holds a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University and a specialization in Finance from SDA Bocconi.

Stefano Baiardo joined Alto Partners in 2020, charged with responsibilities for coordinating deal structuring, execution and monitoring activities. Prior to joining Alto Partners, he co-founded DVR Capital, an independent advisory and investment firm based in Milan, where he acted as a Managing Partner from 2007 to 2020, responsible for private equity investments and co-investments. From 1997 to 2007 Stefano Baiardo worked together with Stefano Scarpis and was employed by the private equity fund manager Fidia SGR in Milan, responsible for deal assessment, due diligence, execution and monitoring.
In addition, he has previous experience with Deloitte and the Zambon pharmaceutical group.
Stefano Baiardo graduated in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan.

Fabrizio Basilico joined Alto Partners in 2021. He provides support to the due diligence process of both investment transactions and exits of the funds under management and is also involved with portfolio company monitoring and LP reporting. After having served as a manager within the financial audit division of Arthur Andersen in Milan, Fabrizio Basilico has provided advice to Italian and foreign companies as well as private equity funds with respect to financial, accounting and tax matters. He also served as group controller of a number of industrial holdings.
Fabrizio Basilico graduated in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan.
Finance, Administrative and Support team

Alessia Orsili has been Chief Financial Officer of Alto Partners since May 2026. In this role, she oversees the financial activities of the company and the funds under management, coordinating with the main internal and external control functions (Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, AML, and Custodian Bank). She is also responsible for relations with supervisory authorities, including the Bank of Italy and Consob.
Before joining Alto Partners, she worked at Wisequity SGR S.p.A. from 2009 to 2026, where she served as Head of Administration & Accounting, managing accounting and administrative matters as well as investor reporting. Previously, from 2004 to 2009, she gained experience at KPMG as a Senior Supervisor, with operational management and coordination responsibilities.
She holds a degree in Business Economics and Law from Bocconi University in Milan.

In Alto Partners since 2024. Giorgia Tadei handles investor relationships and provides support to the management team. Prior to joining Alto Partners she has matured experience as an Office Manager in a luxury fashion company.
Giorgia Tadei has a bachelor’s degree in Language Mediation and Interpreting from CIELS Milano University.

Silvia Santin, who joined Alto Partners in 2007, is responsible for the administration and accounting of Alto Partners and of the funds under management, reporting to the Finance Director.
Silvia Santin graduated in Sociology from Milano Bicocca University.

Elisa Iannuario, who joined Alto Partners in 2001, is responsible for Alto Partners’ office management activities and information systems, reporting to the Finance Director.
